About The Artist

“My process begins in the landscape, where the environment becomes an active collaborator. I work directly with the elements, using water, earth, and tools fashioned from what each place offers. Back in my Scottsdale studio, those traces evolve through layers of pigment, gesture, and time.”

Joan Maureen Collins has been painting for nearly three decades and working as a professional artist for over twenty years from her studio in Scottsdale, Arizona. She studied at Scottsdale Community College, Scottsdale Artists' School, and is an alumna of the Creative Visionary Program.

Joan's work has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions throughout Arizona, across the United States, and internationally. Her paintings have been featured at ArtBox during Art Basel Switzerland, SCOPE Miami Contemporary Art Fair, and exhibitions in New York City. She has also exhibited internationally, including sold-out exhibitions in Ireland, and her work has been accepted into numerous juried exhibitions across the country.

Her work has been recognized by both Phoenix Magazine, where she was featured in the July/August 2023 Best of the Valley Studio Session, and the Phoenix Art Museum's Artist Spotlight program. Today, her paintings are held in private collections throughout the United States and internationally.

“Rather than preserving a moment, my paintings invite viewers to step into the wonder of a world in constant motion—and to experience the quiet urgency of being fully present within it.”
