Statement

My practice is shaped by movement — through landscapes, across cultures, and into layered terrain. Abstraction is my language, but nature remains my source. Sea cliffs, monsoon flower markets, wind-shaped deserts, and electric cities leave their marks long after I’ve left them. In the studio in Scottsdale, Arizona, those impressions surface again — like negatives processing in a darkroom — revealing what the land said first.

 

Over time, my series have formed a living map of these encounters. Entangled Beauty was created with canvases dipped into the Celtic Sea, the tides becoming co-authors. Reverie Unbound charted the interior landscapes that emerge when movement meets imagination. Water Cuts Through investigates erosion as both disruption and bloom — layers built on the desert floor and scraped back in the studio, exposing what survives. My newest work, Color Remembers, continues this exploration, honoring the hues that endure — The emotional residues of place that refuse to fade. My process reflects this relationship with land. I invent tools from what the environment offers — feathers, palm fronds, cactus spines, seaweed — embedding literal traces of place into paint. The canvas becomes not just an image of terrain, but an extension of it. For over twenty years, my parallel career in renewable energy has focused on protecting the planet’s future. That urgency — to honor what is fragile and fiercely alive — drives my art. Through expressive abstraction, I offer a vantage point into the gripping essence of nature and city alike, inviting the viewer to feel their own connection to the world that shapes us all.
